Jaipur is the capital Rajasthan state in Northern India. The city is named after Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II, the ruler of Amber and was founded on 18 November 1727. Jaipur city is enclosed within hills with fascinating bazaars, well known museums, opulent palaces and historical sights. This city of Rajputs is well known for its fairs and fests. The festivals include kite festival, camel festival, teej, elephant festival to name a few. The city is also known as Pink City of India.

Tourist Attractions in Jaipur:

Amber Fort (Amer Fort): 11 kms from Jaipur, it was once the capital of the Minas – the original inhabitants of this area. Visitors enjoy elephant ride up the hills to admire massive gateways, pillared pavilions and palaces. The architecture is a fine blend of the Mughal and Rajput schools of architecture, beautifully combining white marble and red stone. The Amber Palace is a splendid complex built within the Amber Fort. Large gardens, grand chambers and rooms coupled with a beautiful decoration and excellent planning mark the construction of the Amber Palace

City Palace:It is in the heart of city and home to the rulers of Jaipur since 18th century. The complex is superb blend of Mughal and Rajput architecture, with open and airy Mughal style buildings. Part of complex is open to the public as museum. It treasures, which include miniature paintings, manuscripts, carpets, musical instruments, royal costumes and weaponry, provide a spectacular view of Jaipur’s past.

Jantar Mantar:It is one of the largest and best preserved among the five observatories built by Sawai Jai Singh II. Built between 1728 and 1734, the observatory has been described as “the most realistic and logical landscape in stone”. Some of its instruments are still used to forecast how hot the summer will be and also expected monsoon conditions.

Hawa Mahal:Also known as ‘Palace of Winds’ and built in 1799. It is a five storeys extraordinary facade of airy openings and windows and was designed in this way to enable veiled women of the palace to watch unnoticed the outside lively street scenes
